My first post about Downshifting

I just published my first post on my Downshifting newsletter: Welcome to Downshifting.

I only recently stumbled upon the concept, less than a month or so ago. I was having lots of tiring discussions about working remotely and the return to office push from my bosses (no longer my bosses as I've been fired without a clear reason, maybe those discussions were the reason). Those discussions got me thinking about writing a newsletter to promote remote work and all its benefits. As I was researching the topic I came across Critique of work and Work-life balance which eventually led me to Downshifting.

I had never heard of the term before, but it made a lot of sense to me right away. I had been trying to downshift for a while already, but without having a proper term for it. I started working fully remotely back in 2018 (before it was cool) and I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to get a 4-day work week for a long time now.

I've longed been part of the FIRE movement, ever since I first heard of it back when I was working at VarageSale. However, there were always a few things that didn't quite work for me, but the end goal was always a nice target. In recent years, I tried to focus less on making lots of money and more on trying to have a happy life. I was sort of in Coast FIRE mode, but not quite, I was still saving quite heavily, but not as much.

I'm excited about the newsletter and I already have a couple of topics lined up. I just need to figure out how to market it and hope that people will want to subscribe to hear more about it.
